Magical Tidal Art at Okoshiki Coast

Okoshiki Coast is a natural masterpiece created by the dramatic tides of the Ariake Sea. When the tide goes out, beautiful curved patterns appear in the sand, shaped by the wind and waves. From January to April, the sunset turns the tidal flats a glowing orange — and for about 10 special days a year, photographers from across Japan and beyond gather to capture this once-in-a-lifetime view.

Springtime Cherry Blossoms at Tachioka Nature Park

Surrounded by Tachioka Pond and Hanazono Pond, Tachioka Nature Park is a local favorite for cherry blossom season. Around 2,000 sakura trees bloom all at once in spring, reflecting perfectly on the water’s surface with the mountains in the background — a scene so stunning, you’ll want to snap a photo right away. In the evening, the park transforms with romantic illuminated cherry blossoms, making it an ideal spot for a date.

A Scene Straight Out of an Anime: Nagabeta Kaishoro Tidal Road

Nagabeta Kaishoro Tidal Road is famous for its surreal view of a road stretching into the sea, lined with utility poles rising from the water. It’s been making waves on social media for its anime-like scenery. At high tide, the poles look like they’re floating, creating an otherworldly scene that’s perfect for Instagram. The view changes depending on the time of day, but sunset is hands down the best time to visit.

Local Food and Souvenirs at OKAGESAMA MOBA

OKAGESAMA MOBA, just steps from Nagabeta Kaishoro, is a select shop offering seaweed products from all over Japan and carefully chosen Kyushu gourmet treats. Their freshly roasted coffee and unique soft-serve ice cream — topped with sea grapes, seaweed, kombu tea powder, and more — are local favorites! This exclusive takeout treat is a must-try when you visit.
