Feel at Home with the Warmth of the Morimoto Family

Junko, the host behind Omoya Morimoto, loves chatting with guests and sharing her love for the local area. Her dream of revitalizing the region led her to renovate this century-old house into a peaceful retreat. “Step away from your busy life, and relax in nature without pretense”—that’s the spirit you’ll feel throughout your stay. Sharing meals and stories around the table feels just like visiting your grandparents in the countryside.

A Private Stay in a Traditional Japanese Home

This one-group-only stay lets you enjoy the entire house to yourself, wrapped in the quiet beauty of traditional Japan—no other guests, just pure relaxation. Accommodating up to 8 people, it’s ideal for families or small groups. Soak in the open-air bath made from Shigaraki-yaki pottery, or unwind in a tent sauna surrounded by nature. At night, stargazing while you bathe becomes an unforgettable moment of calm.

Savor Homemade Country Meals Straight from the Garden

Enjoy comforting Japanese home-cooked meals made with fresh veggies from the Morimoto family’s own garden. The simple, comforting flavors feel like coming home—something you won’t find on the typical tourist trail. Pair your meal with locally loved sake like Kaze no Mori, Shinomine, or Hyakurakumon to dive even deeper into Gose’s rich food culture.

Experience Japanese Traditions Through the Seasons

From summer nagashi-somen (flowing noodles) to matcha tea sessions and fruit jam making, Junko curates seasonal experiences that bring Japanese culture to life. One guest favorite is Onore-sho—a freeform calligraphy art where you write what’s in your heart. Your finished work fits on a postcard and makes a perfect souvenir. These hands-on activities offer more than just fun—they connect you to the heart of Japan’s seasonal beauty and hospitality.
