From spring to fall, it’s filled with rare wildflowers. What makes this spot truly special? Its breathtaking mountain views, dreamy cloud seas, and starlit skies are perfect for unforgettable photos. You can also enjoy authentic French cuisine made with seasonal ingredients from Sado. If you want to catch the morning sea of clouds, staying overnight is a must. On clear days, you can even see across the ocean to Akita Prefecture in the north and Toyama Prefecture to the west on Japan’s main island, Honshu. (Closed for winter: Nov 2024 – Apr 2025)

You might even catch a magical sea of clouds if you're lucky. The clouds take on completely different looks depending on the time of day. For the best experience, stay overnight and enjoy the ever-changing scenery!
360-Degree Starlit Sky! An Awe-Inspiring Night Under the Stars with the "Pitch-Black Experience"
Grab a flashlight and head out on a night stroll with the staff! A 15-minute walk from the lodge takes you to the dark summit of Shiritate Mountain, where you can experience a breathtaking starlit sky. Unlike the city lights, the stars shine with an overwhelming brilliance that will surely leave you in awe.
